Finding Calm with Vedic Meditation – Our Founders Journey

I’ll be honest—I had never tried traditional meditation before. Like many people, I’d dabbled with podcasts or meditation apps like headspace, hoping they might help me feel a little less stressed. But I never really connected with them, and so I brushed meditation off as something that probably wasn’t for me - or that I just couldn't stick to!

That all certainly changed when I discovered Vedic meditation. I started the practice not out of curiosity, but out of necessity—I wanted to find a better way to manage stress. Running a business, being a mum, dealing with the loss of a loved one, juggling life… I knew I was carrying too much, and it was starting to show.

To my surprise, within just two days of practicing Vedic meditation, I felt an immediate shift. I was calmer. Less reactive. The same challenges and conversations still came up, but I could handle them without feeling overwhelmed. Even more unexpectedly, I noticed I had a new sense of clarity when making decisions - something I never expected!

It was like my mind had been carrying too many open tabs, and suddenly, meditation started closing the unnecessary ones.

What is Vedic Meditation?

Vedic meditation is such a simple and beautiful practice. When you learn it, you’re given your own personal sound, called a mantra, by your teacher. This mantra becomes your tool to effortlessly quiet the mind and allow the body to rest and release stress. If you attend a short course or workshop like I did, your teacher will help you to learn how to meditate in the Vedic way over a couple of days. You are encouraged to sit and be calm with your mantra for two 20 minute sessions each day - morning and night. What I love most (and what drew me to Vedic) is how easy it is to stick with—there’s no need for silence, special apps, or the perfect setting. You can practice it anywhere: while the kids are running around, the dog is nudging the door open, the neighbour is mowing the lawns, or life is happening in the background. It’s about learning to find calm in the middle of it all, and that’s what makes it so practical and grounding in everyday life.

Why Stress Management Matters

At Zeally Herbs, many of our customers come to us for support with candida overgrowth and gut cleansing. And we all know, one of the biggest hidden drivers of candida is stress. Herbal cleansing is incredibly powerful, and when it’s paired with genuine stress reduction, the results can be even more transformative.

My Takeaway

Vedic meditation has already become a tool I can’t imagine being without. I literally cant believe it has taken me this long to have it in my life, and now I couldn't imagine going back to a life without it! Unlike the apps I had tried, this practice felt grounded, simple, and surprisingly effortless. And while I initially sought it out just to “manage stress,” what I gained was much more: calmness, emotional balance, and clarity to keep moving onwards and upwards —both in life and in business.

For anyone on a gut health journey—whether cleansing candida, parasites, or simply wanting to feel lighter and clearer—I truly believe stress management goes hand in hand with the herbs, the diet, and the protocols.
