Why Zeally
Cold-pressed. Hexane-free.
Our castor oil is sourced GMO free and cold-pressed using no chemical solvents. Hexane is commonly used in commercial oil extraction to increase yield. It leaves trace residues in the oil and strips away naturally occurring nutrients in the process. Ours contains none. What you get is the full nutrient profile of the castor seed exactly as nature produced it.
Amber glass dropper bottle.
Castor oil is sensitive to light and heat. Plastic bottles can leach chemicals into oil over time particularly with repeated handling. We package ours in our amber glass dropper bottles to protect the oil from light degradation and keep it pure from the first drop to the last.
Unrefined and nutrient-intact.
Refining strips castor oil of naturally occurring fatty acids, antioxidants and nutrients to improve colour and smell. We use unrefined oil because the naturally occurring compounds are precisely what make it effective. The slight colour and viscosity of unrefined castor oil is a sign of quality not a flaw.
Part of a complete Zeally Detox
Castor oil has been used in traditional medicine for liver and lymphatic support for centuries. The castor oil liver pack is one of the most popular complementary rituals among our cleanse community and is included in full in our Castor Oil Pack. Used topically over the liver area it is a grounding and nourishing addition to your cleanse protocol.
One oil. Endless uses.
Hair, lashes, brows, nails, skin, lips, heels, joints and liver packs. No other oil in your bathroom cabinet does as many things as well as castor oil. It is the original multi-use beauty and wellness oil and the one we always recommend as the starting point for anyone building a cleaner more intentional beauty routine.
How it Works
Castor oil's unique profile comes from its unusually high concentration of ricinoleic acid, an omega-9 fatty acid that makes up 85 to 92% of its total fatty acid content. No other commonly used oil comes close to this concentration. Ricinoleic acid has a distinct molecular structure that allows it to penetrate deeply into the skin and hair shaft rather than sitting on the surface, which is what gives castor oil its deeply nourishing and conditioning qualities.
For hair and scalp, castor oil works by coating and conditioning the hair shaft to reduce breakage and improve elasticity. Applied to the scalp it nourishes the follicle environment and supports healthy circulation in the area. Regular consistent use over weeks and months is what produces the most meaningful results for hair density and growth.
For skin, the fatty acid profile of castor oil supports the skin's natural moisture barrier, helping to lock in hydration and prevent water loss. It is particularly effective on very dry or rough areas where lighter oils do not provide enough richness.
For lashes and brows, castor oil works by conditioning the hair follicle and the hair shaft itself, supporting the natural growth cycle and reducing breakage and fallout. Results build with consistent nightly application over 6 to 8 weeks.
For liver pack use, castor oil is applied topically over the liver area with a flannel or castor oil pack. This is a traditional wellness ritual with a long history of use in naturopathic practice. Full instructions are included in the Castor Oil Pack kit and in the eBook included with every purchase.

HOW TO USE
Castor Oil

Hair and Scalp Treatment
Apply drops directly to the scalp and massage in with fingertips using circular motions. Work through the mid-lengths and ends of the hair. Cover with a shower cap or warm towel and leave for a minimum of 1 hour or overnight for deeper conditioning. Wash out thoroughly with shampoo. Repeat weekly for best results. For a lighter treatment mix with a carrier oil such as coconut or jojoba before applying to make rinsing easier.

Liver Pack and Detox Use
Apply a generous amount of castor oil to soak pad and place over the liver area (right side of the abdomen beneath the ribcage). Cover with an old towel or wrap, apply a warm heat pack over the top if desired. Rest for 30 to 60 minutes. The liver pack ritual is most powerful during your cleanse window and is the cornerstone of our Castor Oil Pack kit.

Lashes, Brows, Nails & Skin
Using the dropper or a clean mascara wand apply a small amount to lashes and brows each night before bed. A little goes a long way. For nails and cuticles apply a drop to each nail and massage into the cuticle. Consistent nightly application over 6 to 8 weeks is where results build. This is a practice of patience and the results reward it. For body use apply directly to dry or rough areas and massage in. Particularly effective on heels, elbows, knees and lips.
Castor Oil
FAQ
Castor oil works gradually and results build with consistent use over time. For lashes and brows most people notice a difference in conditioning and fullness within 4 to 6 weeks of nightly application. For hair growth and scalp health allow 8 to 12 weeks of consistent weekly treatment before assessing results. The key is patience and consistency. Sporadic use will not produce the same results as a committed routine.
Yes but use it sparingly. Castor oil is one of the thickest and most occlusive carrier oils available which makes it excellent for very dry patches, lips and areas around the eyes but too heavy for some skin types when applied all over the face. We recommend mixing one drop into your existing moisturiser or face oil rather than applying it neat as a full face treatment. For brows and the eye area apply with a fingertip or wand rather than directly from the dropper.
A castor oil pack is a traditional wellness ritual that involves applying castor oil to a cotton or wool flannel and placing it over the liver area on the right side of the abdomen. A warm heat pack is placed on top and you rest for 30 to 60 minutes. It has a long history of use in naturopathic practice as a way to support liver function and lymphatic circulation during a cleanse. It is one of the most grounding and nourishing rituals you can add to your zeally protocol and is the centrepiece of our Castor Oil Pack kit.
Hexane is a petroleum-derived solvent commonly used in commercial oil extraction to increase yield and speed up processing. It leaves trace residues in the finished oil and the extraction process strips away naturally occurring nutrients. Hexane-free cold-pressed extraction is slower and produces less oil but preserves the full nutrient profile of the seed.
Yes and it is a beautiful combination. Apply a small amount of castor oil to the skin before or during your guasha session for a smoother glide and added skin nourishment. The ricinoleic acid penetrates deeply as the guasha stimulates circulation making the two tools genuinely synergistic. This is a favourite pairing by our community during the cleanse window.
